Our Team

WBBEC is governed by a Management Committee which can be made up of a minimum of 3 of the following roles: President, Senior Vice-President, Junior-Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Our Management Committee is currently made up of the following team:

Roger Currie – President

Roger has been a member of the original WBBCC, vice president and president, as well as coordinator. Roger created Regional Ecosystems Mapping Consultancy in 2004 and has worked for Hervey Bay City Council, Maryborough City Council, BMRG and DES, as a conservation policy/LFW officer. REMC has completed over 200 scientific reports in the WBB region for environmental approvals.

David Arthur – Senior Vice-President

David has been a passionate advocate for the local environment for the past 10 years and has a special interest in water availability and quality, particularly in relation to the Mary River. David is also motivated and informed by his solid grasp of climate science.

Kerryn Ward – Secretary

Kerryn has been active in the local conservation sector for the past 25 years. Kerryn has held the position of secretary of WBBEC since our humble beginnings in 2011. Kerryn has a passion for education and human rights.

Maggie Inglis – Treasurer

Maggie is a driven environmental scientist with a solid academic background and hands-on experience in biodiversity conservation,
ecological monitoring, and connectivity planning. She has actively contributed to community-led initiatives tackling marine debris, pollution reduction, and habitat restoration. 

Operation:

The organisation is currently run by an Administration Officer (Jo) and Regional Engagement Coordinator (Jennifer) who are both employed on a part time basis. Our Administration Officer is responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation while the Regional Engagement Coordinator is responsible for community education and liaising with the local and statewide conservation sector and all levels of government.
